Philly[edit]

There didn't seem to be that many ships left in Philly, when I flew past last time (June '06). Is it being closed out? Is this list out of date?--J Clear 00:38, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the dubious tag. There are still plenty of ships awaiting their fate in Philly, check it out on Google Earth at 39deg53'22.75"N 75deg10'59.89"W. I think all or almost all of those ships must be unused since the Philidelphia Naval Base proper was closed some years ago. Chrisfow 16:42, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm trying to find some official Navy information about these facilities, including a list of ships that are berthed there. Also, the External links section needs work. They don't really supply much information. Lou Sander 14:20, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On 8/31/06 I got this email response to my inquiry:

The Navy has three Naval Sea Systems Command Inactive Ships On-site Maintenance Offices, one in Phiadelphia, one in Bremerton, and one in Pearl Harbor. These operate the Inactive Ships Mainteancen facilities in the James River, Va.; at Pearl Harbor; at Philadelphia; and at Suisun Bay, Calif.

It's great that we seem to have an up-to-date list of these ships. It isn't sourced, however. Please let us know where you got this information, how we can verify it, etc. (If it's in the lists at the end of the article, let us know.) Sources, please Part 2[edit]

This article mentions the various ships and what their fates are supposedly going to be. There has to be references that back that up. We need sources that say that the ships are located at the facilities and also more references that back up what each ship's fate will be. If there are no references that back up what the ship's fate is, then we cannot claim what those fates. Brothejr (talk) 17:11, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
