Bias[edit]

No need to get excited, just the usual rabid Wiki anti-Israel propaganda. There is no such thing as 'West Bank'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.18.122.83 (talk) 18:24, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

POV tag[edit]

This concerns POV tag cleanup. Whenever an POV tag is placed, it is necessary to also post a message in the discussion section stating clearly why it is thought the article does not comply with POV guidelines, and suggestions for how to improve it. This permits discussion and consensus among editors. From WP tag policy: Drive-by tagging is strongly discouraged. The editor who adds the tag must address the issues on the talk page, pointing to specific issues that are actionable within the content policies, namely Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Simply being of the opinion that a page is not neutral is not sufficient to justify the addition of the tag. Tags should be added as a last resort. Better yet, edit the topic yourself with the improvements. This statement is not a judgement of content, it is only a cleanup of frivolously and/or arbitrarily placed tags. No discussion, no tag.Jjdon (talk) 23:18, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Undue weight in lead and major ommission[edit]

After reading the lead section (especially the first paragraph), I got the impression that Ramat Hovav was mostly related to Bedouins in the area. This is clearly not so and their campaign against Ramat Hovav is one of many. There's no reason why their campaign should be mentioned (in POV wording, no less) in the very first paragraph of the article.

On a related note, a very important controversy about Ramat Hovav (and much better-known in Israel than the Bedouin campaign, I might add) is not mentioned - the IDF plan to build one of the largest bases in the country right next to Ramat Hovav, and the consequences of this. Dozens if not hundreds of articles have been written about this and it's how many Israelis even found out about the nature and dangers of Ramat Hovav.

You have some points - if the entry appears to be about bedouin, that's not right. However, a few points:

1. the last paragraph deals with the Boot Camp Cityto which you refer. If you think mention of the project should be added to the first paragraph or so, go right ahead.
2. I do think that Bedouin should be mentioned in the intro. The reason for this is that the Bedouin who live adjacent have been dealing with this for decades, and they are not a small village - they are the largest unreocgnized village in the Negev. Also, as you pointed out, few Israelis were aware of the major concerns at RH until the press started discussing the plans to move soldiers there. The fact that few Israelis were aware until recently, and only became aware because of potential impacts on soldiers, does not renderthe connection between Wadi Na'am and RH for the past 40 years any less significant. I made some of the edits you requested, mentioning boot camp city in the intro and giving it its own heading below. LamaLoLeshLa (talk) 00:32, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Desert timline link[edit]

I have just noticed that the Naqab Desert Socio-Environmental Timeline link is broken as the website has recently changed. please do not delete the citations - I will try to get them updated as soon as I can (though it may be a short while). Thanks. LamaLoLeshLa (talk) 18:31, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
