Early comment[edit]

Added cleanup the style of the article do we need to have this text 2x both in history and att the top ?

IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Netezza Corporation (NYSE: NZ) on September 20, 2010 announced they have entered into a definitive agreement for IBM to acquire Netezza, a publicly held company based in Marlborough, Mass., in a cash transaction at a price of $27 per share or at a net price of approximately $1.7 billion, after adjusting for cash. Netezza will expand IBM's business analytics initiatives to help clients gain faster insights into their business information, with increased performance at a lower cost. [19]

Courtcase[edit]

The company is no longer NYSE:NZ, the acquisition by IBM is complete. Please update this listing.

Spare FGPA cycles[edit]

"Additionally, spare FPGA cycles are used to perform data compression and decompression, reducing the load on the processor."

That's not how FPGAs work. They don't have spare cycles that can be used for whatever, that's a CPU. FPGAs generally are laid out for one specific task, like an ASIC or a circuit board, and can only do that task.--Skintigh (talk) 19:56, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like marketing[edit]

"Where every other database requires the owner to know deep details about the technology, Netezza users claim that all they really need to know are (a) Structured Query Language and (b) Their own data. Netezza has mastered all of the rest inside the machine"

I am not knowledgable about the topic of this page, but the quote above set off my commercial-detector radar. This statement should be defended, or deleted. If defended, the bar is high: "... every other database ..." --Wdowling (talk) 14:42, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Advertisement-Like Language Per the Template Message/Cleanup[edit]

Removed "Introduction" heading and its contents in an effort to remove parts of the article that appear to be written like an advertisement, per the notice at top of article. Removed potentially inappropriate external links for same reason. Also removed the cleanup template at top of page.

Added citations for Netezza's creating data warehouse appliance category. Added details to "History" section, including accurate founding date. Expanded introductory explanation of Netezza's technology. AKJaffee (talk) 11:23, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

End of Support[edit]

IBM has announced that they will no longer support Netezza after Jan 30, 2019.
