DG834Gv5[edit]

In the article only the first through 4th versions are mentioned, and I myself have only ever heard of versions up to 4 of this router but it seems that Netgear have recently started making a v5 so if anyone knows anything about it it would be worth mentioning.

My experience with the DG834Gv5 was appauling. In my opinion is is rubbish compared to the earlier DG834Gv3 which was a pretty good router. I found that the DG834Gv5 connected at lower speeds and more importantly could not cope at all with uploads. Starting an FTP upload would make any download, even say a 32k MP3 stream time out and stop. Firmware releases after 6.00.25 also seemed to me to be big steps backwards making the thing even more horrid to use. BrianDGregory (talk) 21:46, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Page move / Series?[edit]

The recent page move suggests that this page covers all DG834 devices. Does that include the DG834PN, the DG834GV, and a few others? If so, their coverage on this page would be welcome. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 07:32, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think the page move was not in keeping with Wikipedia guidelines for article names. Terms in parentheses after a name serve as disambiguators, not as explanations. There is no other article "DG834" so no disambiguator is needed. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 11:40, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shortcomings[edit]

I think it should be mentioned that none of the models support IGMP or multiple PVCs (as far as I know). I believe IGMP might be possible with alternative firmwares, like DGteam's (and they should be mentioned, too), but not out-of-the-box. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 07:32, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

With everyone switching to fiber/VDSL2 I assume these devices are now completely useless? However the WGR614 of similar vintage presumably still has some value, though slow by modern standards. 2fort5r (talk) 05:21, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
