Bighorn[edit]

Regarding the Review Journal article stating that Bighorn was going to be bought by Nevada Power, nothing came of the rumored sale as Bighorn is still owned by Reliant Energy, therefore I am removing it as it only seemed to be a rumor and is not historically significant. Summary Section[edit]

Nevada Power and Sierra Pacific Power merged and are now doing business as NV Energy. Their news releases have this summary paragraph, which could be used to better describe the company? That paragraph is: "Headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, NV Energy, Inc. is a holding company whose principal subsidiaries, Nevada Power Company and Sierra Pacific Power Company, are doing business as NV Energy. Serving a 54,500-square-mile service territory that stretches north to south from Elko to Laughlin, NV Energy provides a wide range of energy services and products to approximately 2.4 million citizens of Nevada as well as approximately 40 million tourists annually." That would be something to discuss for Sierra Pacific Resources, the parent company. Clearly the above supports the fact that Nevada Power is still a company. Do we know what NV Energy is? Is is a division of Sierra Pacific Resources that holds the two power companies? Vegaswikian (talk) 23:08, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sierra Pacific Resources no longer exists (as of Nov. 20, 2008) ... and no longer trades on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE:SRP). It became NV Energy and now trades as NYSE:NVE. Protests[edit]

So, no mention of the protesting that happened for a few months in 2002 or 2003 where Nevada Power wanted to hike rates to cover $1,000,000,000, forcing the head to resign and admitting him and the board where spending most of their time in Aspen.
