This article is properly referenced and modeled after several current Wikipedia articles on colleges and universities.


Hi, just to clarify why I consider this article an advertisement - I think it reads like a prospectus for this organisation; it addresses the reader as a potential student (eg “you can submit scores to strengthen your application”) and much of the detail would only be relevant to prospective students such as the application procedure. In places it is written in first person so the creator must represent this organisation. The majority of the citations are from their own website. The author has modified the article since my last post, so now perhaps the question is whether this organisation is a valid subject for an article (I’m not questioning that this is a respectable organisation, just whether the subject is relevant to Wikipedia.) Articles currently exist about other universities and colleges around the world. How would this article differ in format from these other articles which feature educational organizations? Thank you.WriterDallas (talk) 18:41, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My last post wasn’t really about the format, I was questioning whether the organisation meets Wikipedia notability requirements. I’m not familiar enough with the subject matter to offer an opinion on that, I was just suggesting to the Administrator who looks at my request that they may need to consider this since the article was created by a representative of the subject (WP:COI will explain my concerns about this); I think a neutral second opinion is needed here. status and advice[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I think the promotional material could be removed, so I removed it, and did not delete the article. Detailed information about admissions procedures, fees, and the like is considered appropriate for a school website, not an encyclopedia. Please see our FAQ about articles like this. Remove “and Finance”

New England College of Business (or NECB) is a regionally accredited private online college located in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1909, NECB grants associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resource Management, Digital Marketing and International Business. All courses are delivered via a distance learning platform. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). [1]

@Katie style: Hi there, I have reviewed your edit, and updated the certificate degrees as described by the reference (added more than just the one proposed by you). Unfortunately, changing the name of the article and updating to the new logo can't be currently done - the information offered by the article first has to reflect that change (the history section in the article has no mention of the college name change, and the reasons for that). Once that information is present (and backed up by reliable references), the logo can be updated, and a page move can be performed. I have also looked over the lead section, and decided not to implement the changes that you have written, as the information there is quite similar, and does not have to be changed. Re what is needed for a reliable source for this information would be something that is published by a publisher with some level of editorial control and that is independent of the college. Hello — I am an employee of NECB. They were recently acquired by Cambridge College in Massachusetts, so I suggest merging this with that page. The college is no known as the New England Institute of Business at Cambridge College. Infolitguy (talk) 07:51, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
