Good Article[edit]

With better references and some copyediting, I think this article could quickly reach good article status.--Gimme danger 16:25, 16 July 2007 (UTC) hey LAM:)[reply]

The coat of arms of Glarus canton [1] is found throughtout the village. It is more commonly seen in the village than the Swiss flag and is obviously used as the official village logo, so its image should appear next to the Swiss flag. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.48.60.35 (talk) 15:43, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spätzli[edit]

Spätzli/Spätzle, also know as "Knoepfli" in Switzerland, is more a Swabian speciality than a typical Swiss one. It is very popular in Switzerland, though it dervies from Southern Germany. --Primusinterparem (talk) 10:02, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Knee-jerk editing[edit]

The section on Historical events was removed because it does not belong in an encyclopedia. None of the events are noteworthy. So what if JFK campaigned in New Glarus? He campaigned in hundreds of communities. So what if Joseph W. Weinberg was accused of espionage? He was only the son-in-law of the former mayor. He visited New Glarus once, but was never a resident of the town. Get a grip. This is random, trivial information. It fails the smell test of WP:INDISCRIMINATE, as already stated. 70.134.226.134 (talk) 15:48, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It would be helpful if the anon editors would be require to sign up for an account before they edit or take various issues to talk pages or notice boards. Thank you-RFD (talk) 15:58, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Wikipedia has NO requirement to sign up for an account. WP:CTW: "You do not have to log in to read Wikipedia. You do not have to log in even to edit articles on Wikipedia. Just about anyone can edit almost any article at any given time, even without logging in." Get over it. And stop harassing people to sign up for an account. 70.134.226.134 (talk) 16:10, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Who died and made you king? I created this page years ago when there was nothing under the header "New Glarus" and long before anyone gave a rat's behind. Not sure where you're from, but while the information contained in that section may not be relevant to someone who lives in a large city, but they are significant events in a village of 2,000 people. Perhaps instead of serving over an imaginary fiefdom and just deleting things from articles you should spend some time researching and actually ADDING information to articles like I did...anonymously...as is my right...and as I now do with a screen name...which fulfills your request but doesn't really suit your needs, I suppose. I'm changing the article back. The information is historical, it is factual, and it is relevant to the history of a small town like New Glarus. --JohnnyBlood2
Read WP:OWN and WP:NOT. 70.134.229.129 (talk) 14:42, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And how dare you call those additions (there were only two to two existing ones) vandalism??? --JohnnyBlood2 — Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnnyBlood2 (talkcontribs) 04:20, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You're terribly confused. RFD is the one calling legitimate edits vandalism. RFD is the one demanding that editors sign up for accounts. 70.134.229.129 (talk) 14:42, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
To 70.134.229.129-you need to use the edit summary to state the reasons for the edits. Also the talk pages are useful especially for consensus. And I feel anon edits should be require to sign up for an account before they edit anything, etc. This change is badly needed. Thank you-RFD (talk) 14:50, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
WP:CTW: "You do not have to log in to read Wikipedia. You do not have to log in even to edit articles on Wikipedia. Just about anyone can edit almost any article at any given time, even without logging in." What you think about Wikipedia policy is irrelevant. 70.134.229.129 (talk) 17:29, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sister City with Glarus, Switzerland[edit]

I'm not sure who keeps deleting the insertion of sister city status between New Glarus and Glarus, Switzerland but this deletion needs to stop now. But to formalize this matter I contacted Katrin Egger, the Head of Economic Development and Communications for Glarus, Switzerland. In her email to be dated 4/21/2016 she wrote: "It is also in our opinion that our two cities are closely connected. This because of our common history, but also because of relations and exchange on a private basis nowadays. There are several families from Glarus who visit New Glarus regularly, and there are as well families from New Glarus visiting their sister city, relatives and families in the canton of Glarus. Institutions such as the yodel choir, or delegations from the hotel und gastronomy sector (Martin Vogel) regularly visit New Glarus. This broad, common foundation is already a kind of “sistership” between our two cities as it has grown over centuries and generations. To make it short, we see no need to officially certificate this already existing and well established connection between Glarus und New Glarus in the form of a sistership since we never lost and will never lose sight of each other completely. --JohnnyBlood2 — Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnnyBlood2 (talkcontribs) 08:12, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
