Terrific![edit]

EduSoc, your contributions are terrific! --147.8.122.192 10:04, 13 July 2006 (UTC)GW Wang[reply]

Thanks, EduSoc! I've actually been meaning to create this article. But you've done a much better job than I can possibly do. --- Hong Qi Gong 03:35, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I take back what I said above. The entire article is copied from Education in Hong Kong. Hahhah! --- Hong Qi Gong 03:54, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HI Hong Qi Gong! I am a researcher in the field of immigration studies in Hong Kong. I agree with you that it's no good to have the same contributions in Wikipedia here and there. I read through what the Hong Kong sociologist (Hei Hang Hayes Tang) wrote and decided that it is more appropriate to put it onto the article you have been long looking for. I then deleted those part in "Education in Hong Kong". But I would like to have your agreement and approval. Your contributions to Wikipedia have been very significant!! --147.8.122.24 08:21, 20 July 2006 (UTC)SL Wong[reply]

Sorry for removing all that text again. It's a lot of information and basically it could be summarised even more for the purpose of this article. Right now the article is extremely short and it would disproportionally concentrate on the educational adaptation of the children immigrants to HK. I do really appreciate your contribution though, but because of the amount of information that can be put in, maybe it's better to actually make a new article concentrating on the education of new immigrant children in HK, and to have a paragraph in this article to summarise.
Another thing I'd like to suggest is to have different sources. Right now you only have one, and the text you want to put in basically looks like a paraphrasing of the paper you're quoting. I noticed there were sentences that start with "I". Like I find that the students..., and I would also describe.... Those kind of sentences need to be fixed because you're not writing a paper like Mr. Tang was. --- Hong Qi Gong 15:33, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Content deleted[edit]

So I've deleted basically the entire article because the whole thing was copied from Education in Hong Kong. I've re-worked the intro, added a stub and a category, and put a {{expert}} tag at the top. --- Hong Qi Gong 04:09, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction[edit]

A GOOD introduction is very important for this important article in Wikipedia. Hong Qi Gong, why did you not keep the lines:

"But when it has been becoming more socially and morally integrated, "adaptation" of migrants become a social issue. Assimilation, accommodation and alienation happen in this tiny (post) immigrant society like Hong Kong."  ?

These lines tell the changing faces of "immigration" in Hong Kong. Immigration in 60s, 70s, 80s and the era after the handover are different.--147.8.122.24 08:30, 20 July 2006 (UTC)SL Wong[reply]

Oh, the explanation is simple. This article talks about the new immigrants themselves, and not only the social issues that they may cause in HK society. I absolutely think that the article needs to discuss these social issues, but the article should include more than that. It should have their characteristics, their demographic information, etc etc. The social issues that HK experiences because of them should only be part of the article. --- Hong Qi Gong 15:36, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Change of Title[edit]

I am wondering should this article be titled China immigrants in Hong Kong? I found it is exclusively about China people and lack of coverage on immigrants who come from other countries essentially expats who permanently settle in, asylum seeker and other professional talents who are not from China. cheers — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wingthesnowman (talkcontribs) 11:44, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
