Though some consider Ngatikese a dialect of Pohnpeian, I would argue that it is a separate language. I am currently doing linguistic fieldwork in Sapwuahfik and have data to show that it is a separate language. The information is not yet published but the data is available online.[1]Rentzb0711 (talk) 03:24, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In my experience with working with the Ngatikese community, the name of the language is just Ngatikese. Sapwuahfik is not used as the name of the language. Sapwuahfik is the name of the atoll where the language is spoken. The main island in the atoll is Ngatik. People from there identify as being Ngatikese and speaking Ngatikese. -Rentzb0711 (talk) 00:55, 13 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine, but we're a reference work, and so need to include the names that readers might come across in the lit. If a name is pejorative or archaic, we should of course mention that, but it doesn't look as though that's the case here. — kwami (talk) 18:43, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
