Han Tu

Are these the proper Han Tu: 芽莊? Or does this name come from Cham? I've found at least 3 or 4 different etymologies for Nha Trang online so not sure which is correct. Badagnani 08:55, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Its etymology is disputed, but one thing that's certain is that its name is not derived from Chinese; thus any Chinese character representation of its name is just a transcription. DHN 21:32, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

This page is appalling to me, because: 1. This is a travel brochure. This is not an objective, neutral page. 2. While it is well known among vietnamese people that nha trang is full of pristine beaches and is one of the world's most beautiful bays, almost any foreign traveller who visits this place will see that these ideas are completely ridiculous. 3. Agreed. This does read like a travel brochure... and needs to be cleaned-up. That said, I hope the clean-up can cite sources describing this as a great location in Vietnam to visit. I spent a week here (staying at Vinpearl) and SCUBA diving, as well as visiting a lot of interesting spots on the mainland. I disagree that "these ideas are completely ridiculous" -- I'm a foreign traveler and this was one of the most pristine, friendly and nicest locations I visited in Vietnam. The ideas are ridiculous. It's great that you had a wonderful time and good on Vietnam for the resorts coming online nearby, but the main coastline is full of badly tended fisheries and shrimp farms and has water as muddy brown as the Yangtze delta. There's open sewage discharge into the bay, apart from the major construction projects and industrial plants nearby. There may be some pleasant locations still available to boat to from Nha Trang and the people are generally friendlier than north Vietnamese, but it's hardly world-class anything and still far less safe than China and the northern Philippines, let alone Japan. The most interesting bit is the Indic-style temple, which obviously was provincial and not world-class either. It's just a town to visit when you're checking off lists or want to go to Southeast Asia but need it to be kid-friendly.

The English in the history section (and probably the content, though it's difficult to be quite sure) is so awful the entire thing needs to be rebuilt from scratch. — LlywelynII 16:15, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

IPA not correct

The Vietnamese pronunciation IPA isn't correct. "Nha" is pronounced like English "nyah", not Vietnamese: [ɲaː˧]. While -nh is pronounced ɲ at the end of a syllable, nh- is pronounced "ny-" at the beginning. Du khách Hà Nội (talk) 16:35, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
