It should be added that Kemmer wrote a very useful book:

Vector Analysis: A physicist's guide to the mathematics of fields in three dimensions N. Kemmer Cambridge Univ. Press, 1977

In the 1960-1970s there was much interest in surface studies. This book considers several topics not usually covered in a text on vector analysis, in particular, those concerning the behavior of fields at boundaries.
