Biographical info[edit]

I've added the basic details and the verdict from the inquest into Tetley's death. It is still regularly reported that he committed suicide but the evidence that he did not deliberately take his own life was accepted by the coroner who recorded an open verdict. I intend to add more biograph details, including info re his Golden Globe voyage. His achievements were immense. Plutonium27 (talk) 02:52, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You should also add that Mr Tetley was also the first person to have sailed a trimaran in the Southern Ocean and around Cape Horn. Please list his achievements, he deserves much more than to be listed as an 'also-ran', if it were not for Mr Crowhurst, Nigel Tetley would have probably nursed his boat home and won the 5,000 pound prize for fastest elapsed time.115.188.29.136 (talk) 01:40, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Mr Tetley's birth date is 8 Feb, 1924, his full name is Nigel Clarence Wane Wand-Tetley. He joined the Navy in 1942, and retired on 8th February 1969, while he was in fact sailing in the Southern Ocean. His Trimaran "Victress" was a design by Arthur Piver (who called this particular design Victress) Although Piver's smaller trimaran designs were intended to be built by amateurs, in Britain the Victress design was usually build by professional boatbuilders, some by Cox Marine, who built the hulls of Teignmouth Electron.
