The screenshot?[edit]

What happened to the screenshot? That was gorgeous, (and, yes, helped "illustrate" exactly what Nightline is!).

Admins suddenly got real AR about them and deleted a bunch of them. I think I might be able to find another one somewhere though. Cs92 01:27, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Shortened to 25 mins"[edit]

say whu?? this never happened!

was it really SUPPOSED to happen? did it happen BRIEFLY, then get undone a la new coke?

or is this line in the article just flat-out WRONG? 66.105.218.2 (talk) 12:13, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was move Nightline to Nightline (US news program) and Nightline (disambiguation) to Nightline. JPG-GR (talk) 05:26, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not the most internationally used disambiguation of 'Nightline' Also not the oldest cited reference to usage of 'Nightline'

I'm a little confused about what you're planning to move where. Are you suggesting Nightline should go straight to disambig page instead of the ABC show? Or that one of the other Nightline articles should be moved to just 'Nightline'? Eve Hall (talk) 22:39, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Approve The Latter, as the current article at Nightline is arguably less international or well known 86.130.255.212 (talk) 23:04, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose there is more than one TV show called Nightline, so moving it to another ambiguous title solves no problems. No evidence is provided that the student Nightline is primary meaning in English, over the US TV show, or a dab page. 70.55.85.177 (talk) 07:46, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect Nightline->dab - For a very hand-wavy guide to relative notability, the first ten results come up from a google.com search for 'Nightline -Wikipedia':
  • ABC News site
  • National NL (Umbrella body for student service)
  • Private company
  • Blog with video from ABC
  • London University NL
  • IMDB page for ABC NL
  • MIT University NL
  • Private company
  • Private company
I make that ABC three, students three. In general, I'm not sure there's enough to justify the student service being the main page, but I think maybe 'Nightline' should redirect to the disambiguation page, since other uses are probably common enough to mean ABC news isn't an automatic choice for primary usage. Eve Hall (talk) 11:58, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Approve On the other hand (and in interest of fairness to above contributers, if the same search is made at Google.co.uk, ('Nightline -Wikipedia) the top 10 are as follows:
  • National NL (Umbrella body for student service)
  • London University NL
  • ABC News Site
  • Private Company
  • Durham University NL
  • Oxford University NL
  • Leeds University NL
  • Bristol University NL
  • Edinburgh University NL
  • Leeds University NL
Which makes (at least from a UK target audience) ABC one, students Eight - an overwhelming majority from this audience..

Interestingly, searched from google.de, no mention of ABC is made, but result for a student nightline (4th) is present... 137.73.88.101 (talk) 23:23, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose moving Nightline (student service)Nightline. I don't believe that a case can be made that this is the primary usage. Vegaswikian (talk) 01:33, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • I don't think this is entirely the point. I don't believe that there is any stronger a case that the ABC show is the primary usage. 137.73.88.101 (talk) 01:40, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
      • Sorry, but that is one of the two proposed moves being discussed and it clearly needs to be rejected. Clearly that is not the primary topic. If there is a primary topic is an additional discussion. Vegaswikian (talk) 07:52, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is no primary meaning, so:
    • Oppose move of Nightline (student service) to Nightline.
    • Support move of Nightline to Nightline (US news program).
    • Support move of Nightline (disambiguation) to Nightline. Andrewa (talk) 10:03, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
