This Google search brings up “Biographies of known Russian musicians Zak, Zhitomirsky, Zhivotov ...”, although the link [1] doesn’t work. What the search reveals, though, is that Zverev died on “12 Oct. 1893”. Checking in Poznansky’s Tchaikovsky: The Quest for the Inner Man (which uses OS dates throughout), I see that (pp. 571, 572) Zverev died shortly before Tchaikovsky finished scoring the Third Piano Concerto on 3 October (= 15 October NS), and that he attended Zverev’s Requiem Mass on 8 October (= 20 October NS). What I glean, therefore, is that "12 October 1893" is quite consistent with these other references, as a New Style date (= 30 September OS). I see that the bald statement that Zverev was homosexual has been edited out and replaced with the suggestion that he was too devoted to teaching to have time for marriage. But then the citations for the previous claim have been left, and one of these quite clearly insinuates that Rachmaninoff's demand for a separate room wasn't because he wanted somewhere quiet to compose. Given this, I am going to slightly reword (and also tidy up the article's English). Hope that makes sense. Alfietucker (talk) 18:00, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
