Notes to page reviewers[edit]

A discussion took place at Ninjago (TV series) and the consensus was to split the season plot summaries from the main article due to its size and continuation of the series. The discussion agreed to create new pages for each season based on the season title rather than the season number for reasons stated in the discussion. This page will be one of 16 pages created for this purpose. The page has been created as a stub but will be linked from the main page and expanded. Title change[edit]

Hi 77.77.164.94 79.100.210.106 Do you think it's time to change the title of The Island page as it is no longer considered to be a season? It is currently incorrectly titled "The Island (Ninjago season)" - perhaps change to "The Island (Ninjago special)"? Thanks Fieryninja (talk) 19:22, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the late reply, but yeah, I agree. Though, maybe it should be called miniseries rather than special since it has episodes. Similar to how Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015 TV series) has six episodes between its second and third seasons that are labelled as a miniseries on here.79.100.210.106 (talk) 23:26, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi 79.100.210.106 thanks for replying. I'm not convinced that miniseries is the right term for this case, having read the page that defines a miniseries. The page suggests that a miniseries is a standalone limited series of episodes with a plot that is independent. E.g. a short drama which has say four episodes and a beginning and end would be a miniseries. I can't comment on the transformers miniseries but this could be the case there too. In the case of The Island, it is a continuation of the preceding story and continues into the subsequent season, so it definitely isn't a standalone story. Do you see what I mean? Fieryninja (talk) 07:22, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I see, the Transformers miniseries is also not a standalone story.79.100.210.106 (talk) 09:09, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
79.100.210.106 I had another look at the Transformers page and also the definitions here at Television show see Miniseries, limited series, and event series section and also Television special. I'm not much clearer after reading these to be honest. Television special seems to be a more generic term that includes short films, feature films and miniseries, so I guess either could be used. Fieryninja (talk) 09:47, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
79.100.210.106 Do you think we should propose a page move from The Island (Ninjago season) to The Island (Ninjago miniseries) and see what the response is? Fieryninja (talk) 10:20, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I think proposing a move is a good idea.79.100.210.106 (talk) 10:25, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 24 May 2021[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Moved all season articles per WP:TVSEASON:

The Island (Ninjago season)The Island (Ninjago miniseries) – This was originally believed to be a season despite being only 4 episodes in length. However, in recent days the lead writer for the show Bragi Schut commented that the subsequent season Seabound is numerically season 14, which clarified that The Island is not a numerical season in the show. This means that the current title is incorrect because it is not classed as a season. This change to the season numbering was applied to Ninjago (TV series) and List of Ninjago episodes with the source and has been generally accepted as the official status. Fieryninja (talk) 10:51, 24 May 2021 (UTC) Relisting. Natg 19 (talk) 00:39, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What is wrong with the proposed title?79.100.210.106 (talk) 19:05, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean the discussion about this page specifically or about the other pages too? 77.77.164.94 (talk) 09:59, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We should relist this discussion, and finish it. The others can be handled in a followup RM discussion depending on how this discussion resolved. --IJBall (contribstalk) 13:56, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Is this something I need to do or does someone else relist it? I am unfamiliar with this process, so please advise thank you. Fieryninja (talk) 20:24, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It should be an uninvolved editor who relists. The problem is that this one is now down in the 'Elapsed listing' pool of articles of the RM list, and probably nobody is checking this article anymore. But the next editor that sees this will hopefully relist it. --IJBall (contribstalk) 21:02, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Relisting. Natg 19 (talk) 00:39, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If Ninjago should not be in the title, I think it should be just (miniseries). (Canadian miniseries) does not really work since Ninjago is Danish-Canadian, not just Canadian.77.77.164.94 (talk) 08:40, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, this is a good point. The Island (miniseries) makes more sense. Fieryninja (talk) 09:33, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I already asked this but if we do move this to that title, should we change the seasons with parenthesis to some other disambiguation that does not include Ninjago or just keep it as it is?77.77.164.94 (talk) 18:32, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Actually WP:TVSEASON states that seasons that are referred to by name should follow this naming convention - example Survivor: Borneo, Survivor: The Australian Outback etc. By following this example should all the Ninjago seasons be titled Ninjago: The Island, Ninjago: Seabound? Ninjago doesn't use season numbers anymore so it would have to be season names following this example. Note that seasons 1 to 10 would need to be Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu: Rise of the Snakes to be correctly titled. Fieryninja (talk) 18:47, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I thought you guys said this is technically not a season, but a distinct miniseries? That was the basis of my comment. Handling the other seasons probably requires more familiarity than I have. -2pou (talk) 18:59, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I just wanted to make the point about the standard naming conventions for the other seasons. With regards to The Island, it is not classed as a season, but it is not separate from the rest of the series so could it also follow the same naming convention as the other seasons as suggested in my previous comment? It just seems simpler and more consistent. I'm not really clear about the distinctions between miniseries, specials etc Fieryninja (talk) 21:24, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think if we were to title them like that, the page names for Seasons 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, and 10 would be far too long and it would look clunky. If we go with this format, I think they should all be just Ninjago: rather than Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu because even though the show included Masters of Spinjitzu back then, that was technically just a subtitle and in general conversation people are more likely to say Ninjago than Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.77.77.164.94 (talk) 07:48, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK yes I agree with that. It would be better to keep all the seasons consistent so it is a good point. What do you think about using Ninjago: The Island? Even though it is not technically a season, it does follow the storyline of the series and so it makes sense for the naming convention to be the same. We could just clarify that it is a special or miniseries in the text. Fieryninja (talk) 12:42, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am fine with that.77.77.164.94 (talk) 14:01, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok so the current proposal is to rename all the Ninjago season pages to a consistent naming convention per WP:TVSEASON example, Ninjago: The Island, Ninjago: Seabound. This includes The Island for consistency. I think this is the best solution for all these pages. I will wait to see if anyone else wants to comment on this proposal. Fieryninja (talk) 14:44, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We have reached the above consensus on this (see previous comment). How do we close this discussion and move forward? Fieryninja (talk) 16:20, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Bragi Schut reference[edit]

Hello Garmadon030 we need to discuss your removal of the reference to the comment by Bragi Schut. You stated that the information "was wrong according to Tommy Andreasen". If this is the case, then you need to cite a reference that proves this, rather than just stating it in the edit summary, otherwise you do not have any evidence to back up what you are saying. Also, this is quite an important change in terms of the way we define The Island, so it is important for all the Ninjago pages to be consistent when referring to it. There is no point just changing the season pages and not changing the other pages. Can you reply with the source that explains your edit? Otherwise this is just an unsourced edit that will have to be reverted. Thanks Fieryninja (talk) 15:31, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

https://twitter.com/bragischutjr/status/1403008414565879822?s=21 Hello. Here Bragi explains that what he said was just his opinion. Garmadon030 (talk) 17:29, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Garmadon030 thanks for the reference. Perhaps as we don't have any firm confirmation regarding season numbers, we should avoid using them at all. We could simply remove the season numbers before the titles at List of Ninjago episodes. Fieryninja (talk) 17:49, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That’s what I wanted to do here. I forgot to change the other pages, sorry. I’d like the seasons numbers to be more clear but unfortunately we can’t do anything about it. But I’m glad we came to an agreement. Garmadon030 (talk) 19:53, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Garmadon030 OK so if we no longer refer to the season numbers for The Island and Seabound, then we should be consistent and not refer to the season numbers in the season pages for SotFS, Prime Empire and Master of the Mountain. Do you agree? Fieryninja (talk) 20:17, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Uea.

Yes. Sure. Garmadon030 (talk) 21:49, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wasnt this already discussed before? I thought we already decided we are keeping them. Also, keep in mind that while he said that The Island and Seabound being one season is his opinion, in his previous statement he said that 15 is the season written right now without "in my opinion", so that implies that regardlesss of whether The Island is considered to be part of the same season as Seabound or as a separate installment, the next season is definitely 15.109.160.111.223 (talk) 22:30, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I see what you are saying. Maybe someone needs to ask for an official answer so that we can stop this endless disruption. Fieryninja (talk) 23:27, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
