I wonder if naming the detection as "non-dispersive" is related to the means of spectral selection, that is, by a narrow-band interference filter, instead of by using a dispersive element such as a prism (or a diffractive element such as a grating). What the head says is, "since the infrared energy is allowed to pass through the atmospheric sampling chamber without deformation". I think that "deformation" is not a term frequently encountered in optical discussions. I think, at the least, the subject of "infrared energy deformation" needs to be expanded on. --AJim (talk) 03:43, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
