None But the Brave (1928 film) → None but the Brave (1928 film) – It was originally in Talk:None But the Brave, a talk page of an article about the 1965 war film. However, that move discussion has become more about only the 1965 film. Therefore, I'm creating a separate discussion that should focus solely on this silent 1920s film, which may or may not be lost. If sources matter to you, many sources use but; other many sources use But. I could not find the poster of the 1928 film. Sources are divided between but and But. Nevertheless, WP:NCCAPS discourages capitalizing prepositions consisting no more than four letters and coordinating conjunctions. but is a preposition (or a coordinating conjunction) in this title. but is also an adverb, but the title doesn't treat the word as an adverb. Therefore, for the lost(?) silent film, but should be lowercased per that guideline. If anybody wants to use MOS:CT, you can, but it's too general for me to use it convincingly. Follow MOS:CT: Wikipedia has a house style, and we should just apply it unless there is some strong reason not to (e.g., if the content of the film or several reliable sources said that the capitalization of particular words in the title was noteworthy). But I'm not enough of a grammar expert to currently express an opinion about what part of speech this word is being used as in this title. —BarrelProof (talk) 22:00, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Support. The whole purpose of having a manual of style is to avoid having these endless discussions about individual instances and thus ensure consistency. But in this title is clearly a preposition ("none except the brave") and is one of fewer than five letters, so the MOS calls for lowercase but here. Deor (talk) 14:46, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Support – there should not even be a question, since the recommendation of our MOS:CT is also what is most common in sources: [1]. But following MOS:CT is generally the right thing anyway.
