The North American Vertical Datum of 1988 is a vertical control datum for surveying and not a measure of elevation relative to local mean sea level. Flood zone designations should be unaffected by the choice of vertical datum. --Buaidh (talk) 13:38, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
