Merge with Winston-Salem Beltway page[edit]

The result of this discussion was to merge North Carolina Highway 74 into Interstate 74 in North Carolina, not to the Winston-Salem Beltway. --WashuOtaku (talk) 13:32, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should consider merging this article into Winston-Salem Beltway. Its entire length is covered by the Beltway article and it will end up being absorbed into I-74 anyway. The only information that won't fit into the other article is that of the former NC 74, but that information can be moved to the articles of the routes that replaced it. There is no compilation article because that would be an undertaking that nobody would be able to finish, ending up with a bunch of blanks. The current method of just sharing the former history of a route seems to work fine as is. As for merging, I'm more incline to merge NC 74 with I-74 as oppose to the Winston-Salem Beltway because it is a temporary designation for it (like NC 752 was for it around Mount Airy); that is what I probably should have done four years ago. --WashuOtaku (talk) 03:50, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, this article is small enough that it would be hard to tell the difference. The real question then becomes whether to do what was done with I-140 and keep the name of the article "Interstate 74 in North Carolina," but have both an I-74 shield and an NC 74 shield in the infobox until the eastern half of the Beltway is completed.
