Merger proposal[edit]

It appears that the two articles North Star Mine and North Star Mine Powerhouse are basically the same article. Seeing that North Star Mine Powerhouse is a historically registered landmark, I'm requesting that the contents of this article be merged over there... Thoughts? --Travis Thurston+ 19:25, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not sure it's such a good idea to merge this article into North Star Mine Powerhouse. This article includes a lot of information about a mine, before and after the powerhouse was constructed. While the powerhouse is a Calif historical landmark, the mining superintendent's house, the North Star House (Grass Valley, California), which was on the mine property, is an nrhp landmark. In addition, this article discusses the road, Foote's Crossing Road that linked the North Star Mine with the Alleghany Mine, and the road is also an nrhp landmark. I did try to move the appropriate info about the mine itself into this article from the powerhouse article to differentiate them. --Rosiestep (talk) 21:35, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • MERGE: Having worked on both articles, the mine, mill and powerhouse were a single economic unit when they were operating. Important parts of all 3 are preserved in the North Star Mining Museum, which is written up in the Powerhouse article. I can't see any reason not to merge the two articles. I'd suggest titling the merged article North Star Mine and Powerhouse. --Pete Tillman (talk) 05:10, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
