Name of province

[edit]

Does anyone know why it's called North West? The articles doesn't mention how the province got its name. Just looking at the map, I can't tell that the province is northwest of anything. It seems to be in the north center of the country. --Triadian (talk) 05:28, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Although it seems like the north-centre, the country is sort-of pivited to Gauteng province, and it's north west of Gauteng and the Free State, so it is north-west of the major cities of the country. Bezuidenhout (talk) 07:42, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

North West or North West Province

[edit]

Is the name just North West or is the actually usage "North West Province"? Rmhermen (talk) 16:55, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Constitutionally the name is "North West". In my experience the most common usage is "the North West" but "North West Province" is not unknown. - htonl (talk) 18:07, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
