GA Review[edit]

GA Nomination On Hold[edit]

This article has been placed on hold because it requires a few changes: -

  • {{fact}} templates have been added where references are needed. According to WP:References, you need to cite a source after a direct quotation. I've also placed a couple of templates for references after claims that could be challenged such as "most important monastic site in Chesire".
    • Done.
  • It is stated that the abbey owns the tithes to several mills, does this mean it got one tenth of what the mill produced? I think this should be explained as the article it links to is extensive and contains many different descriptions of how the word tithe is used.
    • I'm pretty sure it means one-tenth of the produce of mill, farm or whatever. I have changed the link to tithes which leads the reader to the relevant part of what I agree is rather a wide-ranging article. This seems to explain the term adequately in the context of the article; do you think a fuller explanation within the article is still needed?
  • Is J. Patrick Greene a notable archeologist or just a local one? Since he is mentioned by name it might be worth just explaining who he is.
    • After leading the rather major excavation at Norton, he became director of Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester and has since moved on to become the chief executive of Museum Victoria. This leads me to conclude he is sufficiently notable to merit a stub short article, which I shall prepare and let you know when it is done. A link will then tell the reader more about him.
      • Short article written and linked.

Not needed to pass, but is it known what was done with the other skeletons that were unearther? I assume reburried. Just a bit of a loose end in my mind!

    • From personal knowledge they went initially for research to Liverpool University. After that I do not know (and I would love to know). I searched for information about them (my reference books say next to nothing about them). I suspect learned articles have been written about them but I have not been able to find them. If the info can be found, it should be added to the article in due course.

This article will be watched for seven days and if no improvement is made may be failed without notice. Keep up the good work! Million_Moments (talk) 13:33, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • The above points have been answered. Has enough been done? Peter I. Vardy (talk) 17:14, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Pass[edit]

Congratulations, this article has now passed! It's very well written, and I can't think of many points it could be improved further except for my comment about the skeletons above. Keep up the good work! Million_Moments (talk) 17:33, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
