Spelling[edit]

Butress Nunatak is an orphan rdlk (except for this one ref), and all 16 unique G-hits on the phrase are derived from WP. On the other hand, Buttress Nunatak is lk'd by Req'd articles, and the phrase has 5 WP-independent hits at 3 sites.

Webster's lists nunatak as the English spelling of this word with nunataq being its Inuit root. I'm concerned it's a little pejorative and perhaps misleading to imply that nunatak is an improper spelling. --Capnpitz 22:50, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Size and scale[edit]

Is there any chance of the rnage of sizes of nunataks being mentioned? In particular, the size of the nunataks in the photo would be useful. 78.151.115.229 (talk) 18:50, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Portugal ?[edit]

A nunatak is a rocky peak sticking out of a glacier, ice sheet or ice cap. How can there be one in Portugal ? Its bogus.Eregli bob (talk) 16:26, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There can be one wherever there was a continuous ice sheet, such as the one that covered the Serra de Estrela during the last ice age, see this link. Mikenorton (talk) 16:36, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've now moved the picture down, reworded the caption and added the ref. Mikenorton (talk) 16:36, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bibliography[edit]

Does the Bibliography section belong in this article? If so, can someone add some kind of explanation of why. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.75.16.99 (talk) 07:39, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A good question. It would fit as a 'Further Reading' section for an article on Antarctic exploration, but seems entirely irrelevant here. I'll remove it. Mikenorton (talk) 11:53, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
