Clarification[edit]

I'm one of the developer of OPAL, though not one of the original ones. I think the following line in the article can be improved: "[OPAL] was originally built off of ODE, but can run off of multiple engines now". The quote is not quite right. The OPAL at the moment consists of two layers: one abstract OPAL layer, and another ODE backend that implements the abstract layer. So, it's true that one could write another backend, thus allowing to use other engines other than ODE. There have been a few attempts to write such backends. I'm one of them (backend for TrueAxis physics engine). However I'm not aware of any such backend been completed. Therefore, one cannot state that one can run off multiple engines right now. It's more correct to state that one could write or complete existing backend in order to provide support for more engines. I will wait for any responses for a week, after that I will go ahead and clarify this point in the article. Oleksandr 02:06, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
