Native American Displacenment[edit]

I suggest simply stripping this section down to the basic info that can be pulled from the quotes. Spiesr 15:09, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This section is extremely biased stating only the perspective of the Indians. It states "most" of their agriculture land was eliminated. Truth is, this lake created enormous agricultural opportunities by providing potential irrigation. The indians never took advantage but only chose to weep over the land flooded. This article also states the Indians were unable to harvest their crops prior to the lake flooding their land. In fact, it takes YEARS from the time of announcing a damn, through damn construction then finally for the lake to fill. In this case the Indians harvested many seasons of crops.

I agree with Badbilltucker above, this section should be striped to basic info that can be confirmed by reliable sources. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.104.153.85 (talk) 02:06, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

How is "Oahe" pronounced? Is it one syllable? Three? The pronunciation should be indicated. 65.119.203.193 (talk) 13:33, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to our tour guide, three syllables, rather like "o-WA-hee", but I can't read/write IPA symbols so I won't attempt to include that in the article.--Wtshymanski (talk) 15:10, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Owned by DoD?[edit]

I was just using ArcMap for a GIS course I'm taking, and noticed that Lake Oahe is owned by the Department of Defense. I'm curious as to why this is, and if it should be noted in the article. YAOMTC (talk) 00:18, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2011 Floods[edit]

I've added a section for 2011 flooding, this effects the entire Missouri river dam system, my entry is focused on Pierre. There may be a better area for this after June 1 when the flooding is at peak, supposed to last 2 months, 2,000 of 14,000 residents in Pierre will be displaced, first time since the dam was built that Pierre is in major flood danger from the Missouri river.
