The result of the move request was: Moved to Occitania (administrative region) There is a consensus that the administrative region should be referred to by its English name in the article title and that the administrative region is not the primary topic of "Occitania". OccitanieOccitania (administrative region) – This article is about the French administrative region of Occitania. For the cultural area of Occitania, see OccitaniaHeanor (talk) 09:55, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). Lennart97 (talk) 14:42, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Heanor: What is the reason for the proposed move? Lennart97 (talk) 12:31, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Lennart97: your ping didn't work Clear separate from the cultural region of Occitania which has completely different (although overlapping) borders. And restore original title which was moved without discussion. --Heanor (talk) 13:59, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      • @Heanor: Sorry about the failed ping. The current titles of the pages do not imply that the cultural and administrative regions are the same. Although I can see a potential for confusion between the two pages given their similar titles, I think the hatnotes work fine. Also, the current title seems to be consistent with other titles of French administrative regions which similarly use the French name. In any case, an undiscussed move from 2016 is too long ago to be simply reverted, and the title that it was moved away from then is different from the one you propose now anyway. I suggest converting into an RM. In that RM you'll also have to clarify what you want to happen to the page "Occitanie"; should it be a disambiguation page? • ok, just two comments. The title that it was moved away was the one I propose. And about other titles of French administrative regions which similarly use the French name, see Normandy (administrative region) and Brittany (administrative region). The page "Occitanie" should of course redirect to Occitania, this is just a different spelling, and cultural region is a clear primary topic here, like Normandy and Brittany. --Heanor (talk) 14:18, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
          • @Heanor: These are good points, especially the comparison with Normandy and Brittany. I don't oppose the move but I think an RM will settle the matter definitively. Lennart97 (talk) 14:42, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, and redirect Occitanie to Occitania.--Ortizesp (talk) 14:55, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Also support Ortizesp's proposal. Super Ψ Dro 15:19, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • But who in English calls the "cultural region" Occitanie? It's not merely a different spelling. It's also pronounced differently. Normandie and Bretagne are disambiguation pages, I presume, because nobody really uses those terms in English for Normandy and Brittany. Srnec (talk) 00:43, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
