The nature of a word "Radical"[edit]

The word "radical" just means that the idea or person deviates from some sense of social norms in a fundamental way. The root comes from "radix" the idea being that you deviate from the referenced position "early on" in the general thought process. "Radical" is used as a scare word, however it's use in that sense is very evanescent and never really qualified in such a way as to explain _why_ it's bad, just that it is. Following that, I don't think we should refrain from using words just because some people choose to say them with a negative tone in their voice (otherwise "liberal" couldn't exist in any wikipedia article either.) 74.60.55.145 (talk) 17:03, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
