I'm not sure I agree with the "Notability" tag. The reference cited is quite clear, and there doesn't seem to be anything else to add to the definition. I propose leaving it a week for discussion to build up here, and then review whether or not to remove it.
The page can certainly be expanded further. There is a possibility to add the techniques used to separate, say, corn storage layers from cattle housing layers; re-occupated earth, and so on. But that might require expert sources and editors with an archaeological background. I added this term to Glossary of archaeology, and if people decide to remove this page, i recommend making it into a redirect to that glossary instead of simply deleting it.
