Wild guesses?

The article as I just edited it had lots of statements which seem like wild guesses. For example "a vast majority of new businesses are started by women entrepreneurs" or the stuff about "freeter". It seems to be just some random nonsense to me; can anyone support these kind of claims? --DannyWilde 12:35, 9 September 2005 (UTC)

Too many anime references?

I think so. -anon

Nope. Putting them back in. Cantthinkofausername 06:08, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

Image

An ip editor brought this up on the image page back in April, but no one noticed it.[1]. There is no evidence that this random photo from Flickr contains an "office lady" and not just some woman in a skirt on a train in Tokyo. The picture doesn't really tell us anything about office ladies and is little more than decoration.--Crossmr (talk) 02:15, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Japan Only?

Is this a Japanese-only thing? Because I didn't realize women working clerical jobs was a Japanese-only thing. - 66.92.0.62 (talk) 09:01, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

  • If, on the other hand, this article is about the term "office lady"--akin to how the word "gaijin" has its own article, then perhaps the article should be about the history of the phrase "office lady" rather than having it be about female clerical employees of Japanese-decent ONLY and leaving out female clerical employees from around the world. - 66.92.0.62 (talk) 21:41, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
    • "Office Lady" is both a wasei-eigo term and a function in Japanese society. It is distinct from women in clerical positions elsewhere in the world. The conditions of this employment are particular to Japan and the attitudes around it are also unique. I don't have any sources to demonstrate those statements to you, but living in Japan I see these women every day.221.98.132.153 (talk) 13:12, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

Oeru

There should be some mention of the Japanese term 'oeru.'--Slowlikemolasses (talk) 23:38, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
