lol, this logo here is better quality than the one in game... the one in game cinematics and stuff loks weird at it's top half, like, low node count —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.5.88.158 (talk) 03:18, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral point of view?[edit]

This section -- "Modifying command lines in the Configuration files for packet dumps and more complex issues like 'timenudge' can give players big advantages in the Arena and the effect of being 'faster' than other less configured opponents. In addition to all this 'Ping' (basically how fast your internet connection) will play a huge role in determining the success of a player. In recent years OA has become more a competition of 'network configuration tweaks' than most anything else." -- is hardly written from a neutral point of view, and probably needs some sort of citation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.221.226.130 (talk) 14:14, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Up For Deletion?[edit]

I wish to object to OpenArena being listed for deletion, as it seems that it is being targeted purely because it is a free software game. It is not right to pick on game articles just because they are made communally and are not backed by corporations. Besides this, I wish to note that even though OpenArena started out as a pure Quake III: Arena modification it has grown into a game of its own and has a number of original game play and theme styles. If they where to delete this Quake III clone then they would have to delete the others such as World of Padman or Urban Terror, and it is also included with many Linux distributions such as Fedora and it is commonly marketed as a prominent free software Linux game. I would also like it if someone would post a rational for deletion on an article's talk page before adding the deletion threat tag. Thank you. Comrade Graham (talk) 04:33, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea what is wrong with this article. Doesn't seem to be badly worded, it uses prose, etc. I updated the release table a while back to make it more aesthetically pleasing and added more information. The only missing might be citations? Altonbr (talk) 21:40, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I actually nominated this article for deletion. Fortunately, someone was able to find sources that I wasn't able to. I put them in the references section: Open Arena's biggest legacy, it seems, is that it's being used as an open source platform for trying new applications.
As for how to improve the article... most Wikipedia articles on games try to avoid release tables or lists, and try to summarize the game's development in prose. (e.g.: "OpenArena was originally released with feature X, but as time went by they added feature Y.") See Guitar_hero_3#Development for what I mean. Also, screenshots are usually used to explain something in the article, rather than simply providing decoration. If someone more knowledgeable about the subject of the article would like to help, I'd like to fix these two aspects of the article. Randomran (talk) 21:48, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Free images or not?[edit]

As stated in [1], it seems that the screenshots of OpenArena are not as free as we think. Should they be deleted?  Marlith (Talk)  03:44, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The non-free content affects only the (now withdrawn) 0.8.0 release, the screenshots in the article are from earlier versions. Hweimer (talk) 11:36, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article vandalized[edit]

Unfortunately a couple of changes on 16th March 2010 by user 69.114.151.154 vandalized this section with inappropriate and lewd, puerile content. The change has been reverted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MagnificentMatthew (talkcontribs) 12:24, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete license list[edit]

The infobox license section doesn't say anything about the assets license(s). 216.169.239.29 (talk) 09:42, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tacky video that messes up formatting[edit]

Is there a better place where we can put the video? In my opinion it should be removed because gameplay videos aren't usually the norm for Wikipedia game pages (and I'm sure it violates some style guide rules). Wasd v2.0 (talk) 20:30, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Removed reference to "assed reboot[edit]

Removed referenced to "an asset reboot" as the project has stalled and is not in current development. The content citation was a link to a members only forum that requires a login to view. There is no link to the actual project ot any reference to verify the current validity of the removed section. 38.15.41.72 (talk) 20:38, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Clone of Quake 3 Arena"?[edit]

What, no! It literally _is_ quake 3 arena, just with different maps and textures.

Their both the same game under the hood. 2601:541:4400:7800:831:878A:B3C3:E0AB (talk) 18:13, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
