"This effectively means that OMA / OMG is now as versatile as MP3 (although not as widely used) and offers higher compression, allowing anywhere from 2x to 5x as much music to be transferred per GB (4000 tracks MP3 192KBPS Stereo = ~20GB / 4000 tracks OMA 48KBPS Stereo = ~4GB)"

As a (happy) user of atrac3, I can assure you that 48kbps atrac3 is not comperable to a 192kbps mp3. The compression artifacts are similar to a 128kbps or 96kbps mp3. Also, I think this is slightly misplaced statement, OpenMG is merely an encryption/drm system, correct? The actual compression is done by the atrac system.

After visiting the talk page to express the same concern, I have removed the above sentence. If someone can cite sources for it, or clarify it, re-add it. Jameshfisher 12:43, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Really, this article needs a rewrite, it has a negitive spin on it, Does anyone else agree? Thedarksage 00:54, 26 December 2006 (UTC)TheDarkSage[reply]

Crack ?[edit]

Anyone know if there is a crack for OMA files yet? I'm eagerly awaiting it, and I know many others who are as well.

anyone have an updated url?[edit]

http://www.sony.net/Products/OpenMG/index.html on the page now leads to a "sorry, this page is no longer available" type error page. 134.243.198.11 (talk) 13:09, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-standard Table Of Contents[edit]

"OpenMG protection applied to music compact discs relies on nonstandard disc TOC. This is somewhat similar to the Cactus Data Shield scheme, without the artificially introduced C2 errors.[1]" -is apparently erroneous, a misunderstanding of cited thread, confusing key2audio XS and OpenMG. I m going to remove it. (talk) 06:13, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
