Untitled[edit]

"the company is structured so that British Telecommunications plc (BT) is a wholly owned subsidiary" can't be right, surely? Dadge (talk) 19:20, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Poor Quality Article[edit]

For a company of such importance to the Telecom and Internet industry in the UK this article is surprisingly poor. I will try and redo the article over the next couple of days and add a lot of missing and relevant information. --Thsyrus (talk) 12:15, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Openreach's address[edit]

Openreach's publications give its address as 81 Newgate Street, London EC1A 7AJ which is the address of BT Group. I would have more confidence that Openreach is "treating the rest of BT on an equal basis as other operators" (quote from BT Group article) if it had a separate address. Quote from Openreach's corporate brochure: "While Openreach remains part of the BT Group, we are a separate business with our own headquarters, identity, financial reporting and commercial principles". So where is this headquarters? Biscuittin (talk) 22:15, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
According to Companies House Webcheck, there is a company called Open Reach at 16 New Street, Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire DY13 8UW but it is described as "dormant". Is this the same company? Biscuittin (talk) 22:22, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is misleading to describe Openreach as "a separate business" (see above) when it appears to be a division (business) rather than a subsidiary. Biscuittin (talk) 22:36, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The headquarters are Judd Street, London - they are a BT Group Business however so rightfully, their registered company address headquarters are that of Bt Group - 81 Newgate Street, London.

Conflict of interest[edit]

I'd like to thank user:Maudael who helpfully spotted and reverted an expansion of this article "edited from a BT office IP without attribution - this is against Wikipedia rules" (as it says in the edit summary of the reversion). Openreach engineers not technicians.[edit]

The article incorrectly states that Openreach engineers are actually technicians. This is incorrect. Openreach engineers have the job title "Customer Service Engineers" . This is because the engineers build and maintain a structure, in this case the wires, nodes, duct, exchanges and network terminating equipment that make up the telecommunications network. This fits well with the dictionary definition of an engineer, a technician meanwhile is defined as someone who simply looks after technical equipment.
