I expected more discussion. I also expected a reference to the King James (and/or other) translation of the Christian Bible, Ephesians 6:16 where I expect the name of the operation originated.

I'm not a regular editor, know next to nothing about this subject, and hesitate to add any references but it seems reasonable that someone should.

Start of the Vietnam War[edit]

While the Vietnam War officially starts on March 15, 1962, the U.S. Marines had not yet landed and in fact didn't do so until March 8, 1965, which can be said to be the start of military warfare for the U.S. in Vietnam. However, this was preceded by airstrikes on Feb. 7, 1965 in an operation called Flaming Dart using F-105's from the 18th Tactical Fighter Squadron which had been scrambled at 3:00 AM on Jan. 31, 1965. So Flaming Dart can be said to be the start of the Vietnam War.Silver Bayonet (talk) 21:22, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
