Nevertheless, operon and operator are differents concepts as an operon is composed of an operator, a promoter and the gene. In order to increase the variety and concreteness of Wikipedia, I suggest rewriting the article. 92.58.231.172 (talk) 17:19, 24 May 2017 (UTC)Violeta

Support merge. The reasons for the merge have been made; and I also note the absence of any references on Operator (biology). More details would help

For the novice, it would help to add more information. Some examples: how are the other operons relevant to this discussion? How is it that the binding of the repressor blocks the expression of genes 6-8? The illustration doesn't make this clear, because the mechanism isn't clear, and the visual doesn't depict how the blocking works: the pictures with and without repression aren't obviously different. It would help to show gene expression, so that the reader can get a sense of how the repression works. Also, the specification of relative gene position is done without explanation of the units (which could be done by linking). Rpgoldman (talk) 14:25, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
