The article should in some place describe what WebLogic *does* -- what it's for -- to those of us who have no idea.

Think version 4 should clarify "the acquisition?" I'm not very familiar with the product and came here to learn about it, and it took me a minute to realize BEA must've purchased WebLogic at some point.

I reverted an earlier revision to my comment: "At this point, the founders worked together to pursue what was eventually to be called the Application Server" because I meant exactly what I said. version history[edit]

Why are there two different version sections (Version covering 5.0-current and WebLogic History covering 2-4)? Seems like they should be merged. Pimlottc 16:02, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Language, language[edit]

Is this 'encyclopedic' language?  : and was called T3Server (a bastardization of 3-Tier Server). Don't get me wrong; I don't mind. But it sounds a little... out of place.!!

Dubious[edit]

T3 is a corruption of 3 tier[edit]

I was told by an ex-BEA employee providing an Oracle WebLogic course that T3 referred to JDBC type3, which is what WebLogic was trying to be at the time, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JDBC_driver#Type_3_Driver_-_Network-Protocol_Driver rather than a linguistic corruption of "3 tier architecture". Merge page histories[edit]

Oracle Weblogic Server was created by copy-paste from BEA WebLogic rather than by moving, because of which the histories are split in two. The below is an attempt to capture the split histories, so it can be merged.

I have merged the histories. The sequence now is from old to new - all versions of BEA WebLogic from start (2004) to the version of 9 October 2008, followed by all versions of Oracle Weblogic Server from start (16 October 2008) to present. Capitalization[edit]

Shouldn't the title be capitalized Oracle WebLogic Server (capitalizing the L in WebLogic) for consistency? (I tried to edit, but saw no option to rename the article.) Loresayer (talk) 18:12, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Marketing lingo[edit]

What does "Native enterprise-grade JMS messaging" even mean? I suggest the vague "enterprise-grade" qualifier be removed. Joelthelion (talk) 13:25, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
