Looking backwards[edit]

In hindsight, I'm surprised that it was the South that seceded, not the North, and that the secession happened in 1860, not 1857. I wonder why the South seceded rather than throw a hissy fit and declare nullification, as one state did in 1832, or engage in a boycott, or some such thing. What's with all this random nonsense about Haitians and the 'newly settled south'?

South Carolina's been around since the 1600s, has it not?

and what does some random tale about Haiti have anything to do with the long drawn out war between the Yankees and the Southrons?

I figure if I just went along and deleted that impertinent mess I'd be chastized so I told y'all now, guess I'll come back in awhile and if nobody's got no problems i'll do it. -Eli

Second Source[edit]

I'm not sure how to fix it, since I don't have the right link, but the second link "Ordinances of Secession of the 13 Confederate States of America". www.civil-war.net. Kentucky?[edit]

I cannot find secession even mentioned in the Wikipedia article on "Kentucky in the American Civil War".

I would encourage someone with more knowledge than I have of this history to try to reconcile the differences between that article and this one. Thanks, DavidMCEddy (talk) 07:53, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
