Pagodas designed to collapse[edit]

While there are many claims that the Pagodas are designed to collapse in the even of an accident, the source cited does not actually say this. "The specification for the Vibration Test Buildings included the ability to withstand the accidental detonation of 400lbs (181.4kg) of high explosives". Based on discussion with the National Trust site manager, the roofs are designed such that there is ample venting, so that pressure from an explosion is unlikely to build within the building and therefore cause structural collapse. In addition there is a significant overhang to the roof in order to prevent any shrapnel from the explosion leaving the building on a trajectory likely to allow it to leave the area immediately surrounding the lab (The control room is extremely close). There would seem to be no design benefit in collapsing to form a "Tomb" given that non fissile material was brought onto site.

Of course, the whole site was built in secrecy and limited materials have been released. We may never know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheWishy (talkcontribs) 21:05, 3 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Location on GB dot[edit]

The dot seems to be out at sea. Can someone translate the location to a correct (x,y) ? --JBellis 19:53, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Largest vegetated spit in Europe[edit]

What about the Curonian Spit? That seems to be vastly larger? The link given as reference for the claim is dead. 86.189.224.169 (talk) 08:51, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

National Trust pilot[edit]

Hello! During late June, July and some of August, I'm working on a paid project sponsored by the National Trust to review and enhance coverage of NT sites. You can find the pilot edits here, as well as a statement and contact details for the National Trust. I am leaving this message when I make a first edit to a page; please do get in touch if you have any concerns. Lajmmoore (talk) 07:02, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
