Off-topic table at the end of the article[edit]

This article is about organosulfates. The table of elements forming inorganic sulfates at the end of the article is therefore off-topic. --Csteinbeck (talk) 12:27, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong structure in first image[edit]

IMHO, the image in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organosulfate#/media/File:Alkylsulfate.png prominently shown as the first image on this page and therefore also showing up in Google searches for "Organosulfate" is just plain wrong. There are two double bonds missing to get to an oxidation state of +6 for the sulfur. Will redraw this now. --Csteinbeck (talk) 12:10, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Organic chemists, who often think most elements are carbon-like, are comforted by double bonds to sulfur. But the situation is complicated.--Smokefoot (talk) 20:52, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Category?[edit]

Why are the Organosulfates classified as a subcategory of Organosulfur compounds? AFAIK, organosulfur requires a C-S bond, while organosulfates require a C-O-S+6 bond. Albmont (talk) 03:10, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New material on Alkyl Sulfates[edit]

A new section on Alkyl Sulfates has been added to rescue it from the AfC deletion cycle. Could someone with suitable knowledge look it over and check it harmonises with the rest of the article? A bit of lead-in at least is probably needed. Thanks. Chiswick Chap (talk) 11:46, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is Alkyl Sulfate a synonym for Organosulfate (as it seems now from the article, in several places), or is it in fact a subset? If the latter, could someone explain what else (perhaps a few rare cases only?) is an Organosulfate, and that (perhaps) Alkyl Sulfates make up the vast bulk of all the Organosulfates? Thank you. Chiswick Chap (talk) 06:16, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Most or a lot of organosulfates are sodium salts or the cation doesnt matter. The key physical, tox, environmental properties are well handled in Organosulfate so that we dont need to monitor many articles for consistency.--Smokefoot (talk) 20:16, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Agree - although there looks to be little of worth to merge in. --Project Osprey (talk) 22:37, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
