Conflict[edit]

The first paragraph says that the courthouse was repurposed. These two sources [1] [2] imply that the old courthouse served as such until the current one opened. Mapsax (talk) 05:03, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Those two sources (as well as the photo in the article, and a fair bit of its content) are referring to a different historic courthouse than the one listed on the National Register. The listed courthouse looked like this, which looks nothing like the picture in the article; the one that got demolished two years ago must have been its replacement. The timing of the delisting is an unusual coincidence, but it isn't actually related to the demolition of the newer historic courthouse. Now that the .pdf is loading, I see now. I should have checked that existing source initially, but even if I had, I would have still been confused because of the other historic courthouse's photo being in the infobox. I've removed that to avoid any more confusion. (The final caption for it stated that it was the current one as of 2008, so this was obsolete information anyway.) More confusion came from the first sentence: "The Original Slope County Courthouse was a historic courthouse...." That implied that the building wasn't there anymore, rather than communicating that it's no longer a courthouse, so I changed "was" to "is". I did somewhat confirm its continued existence, though this is only through Street View (northeast corner of US 85 and, naturally, Court Street), whose relevant images are almost a decade old, not much newer than Flickr photos I've found, such as this (3/24/07). A senior center by that name still exists somewhere in the area (see blog entry from this past February) but I can't confirm if it still uses that building. Generic sites spit out "14205 64th St SW" as the street address but I can't get mapping services to pinpoint the corresponding location. Barring any sources that confirm the demolition of this building, I guess that we can assume that it's still there. Mapsax (talk) 13:10, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
