The comment this isn't a village, so I'll dump it here for now equally applies to many other civil parishes which are not strictly villages in their own right: for example Boughton Aluph and Eastwell which includes three settlements within its boundaries. They are shown on the lists under the various local government districts - in this case Ashford (district), and are also under the overall listing List of civil parishes in Kent. There is already an article for Hamstreet, but several settlements like Orlestone (which was, after all, once a village in its own right) are included in the Villages in Kent listing. A second point is that according to a note here the villagers moved because there was a better water source at Ham Street. Which is which: water or the railway? The station was for many years called Ham Street and Orlestone Peter Shearan 13:42, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have no problem including it in the villages category. I merely wanted defer the decision and draw the attention of an editor that knows something about civil designations in England; it seems to have worked. Thanks. ×Meegs 15:47, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
