please correct this statement[edit]

"Becker, like several earlier historians, suggests that the avoidance of arithmetic statement of geometrical magnitude in Euclid is avoided for ratios and proportions, as a consequence of recoil from the shock of incommensurability."

that the avoidance ... is avoided ...

At best, non-grammatical.

Not consistent with wikipedia standards[edit]

"Perhaps the same can be done with some other parts of this valuable but lost correspondence."

Wherever this observation belongs, it is not likely in an encyclopedia. Please edit after reviewing the wikipedia standards and provide a reference.

Is the reader to believe that no record remains of the writings of Becker during the Nazi period ?
