Added[edit]

I Added small sections on Diet and Pet keeping as I keep Ouachita maps and know about their care and needs, I thought it would at least make the article a little larger and provide more information on the species. LordNatonstan (talk) 23:52, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the taxonomy info seems to be off here. It's listed as trionychidae, but this is clearly not a softshell turtle, the family should be emydidae. Unless I'm mistaken. Since I'm no expert, I won't make the edit for the page until someone backs me up on this. The page for map turtles in general, however, seems to agree with me. 67.82.24.182 (talk) 23:58, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ref[edit]

Stephens and Wiens 2003 is presumably Stephens and Wiens 2003, Biol. J. Linn. Soc., 79: 593. but this needs checking. Rich Farmbrough, 11:28, 30 May 2012 (UTC).[reply]

Species[edit]

This Stub article lists the species as Graptemys ouachitensis; or Ouachita map turtle. I was reading the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Waterbody Management Plan series; Lower Sabine River, Louisiana, concerning the "Sabine Map Turtle" that is listed as Graptemys pseudogeographica sabinae and listed as a species of conservation concern for the Sabine River drainage in LDWF’s State Wildlife Action Plan (Lester et al. 2005).
In a search I also found Graptemys ouachitensis Sabinensis; Sabine Map Turtle, and Graptemys pseudogeographica ouachitensis; Sabine Map Turtle. The Graptemys pseudogeographica' (Gray, 1831) – is listed as the false map turtle. This could use clarification. Otr500 (talk) 18:44, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

Maybe I overlooked it but just wanted to suggest including the pronunciation of Ouachita , it's waa shee tuh 24.229.21.210 (talk) 18:15, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
