To admin[edit]

This article would have to be fundamentally rewritten to portray this event as if it didn't happen (I.e. NPOV), as it stands now it presents this light as if it really was the virgin Mary and thus I believe this qualifies it as a hoax. Beyond that, those newspaper excerpts may be a copyright violation. +++++++++++++++++++++++

The apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Warraq al-Hadar, Giza is a classical case of the approved mass Marian apparition. It has already been approved by the local bishop authority, the Bishopric of Giza:

"The Bishopric of Giza announces that the Holy Virgin has appeared in a transfiguration at the Church named after her in Warraq al-Hadar, Giza"

Obviously, any Marian apparition is a matter of belief (I changed 'was a mass Marian apparition' to 'is believed to be a mass Marian apparition') but after it has been approved by the Church Authority:

"An authentic apparition is believed not to be a subjective experience, but a real and objective intervention of divine power."

In no way the article about an authentic apparition can be treated

"as a blatant and obvious hoax. ... where the deception is so obvious as to constitute pure vandalism."

I will work on the article to reduce those newspaper excerpts.

Press Coverage[edit]

I have removed three excerpts of extensive verbatim text from press releases, in accordance with WP:COPYRIGHT. While I understand the need for the sources that were added, and I applaud the effort to increase the well-sourced content on this article, Wikipedia edtors "should generally summarize source material in their own words, adding inline citations as required by the sourcing policy," per WP:PARAPHRASE.

I added a paraphrased version of the Agence France-Presse article, and have kept all citations in the Press Coverage section intact, to ensure it will remain easy to do the same for the other articles, if necessary. For guidance, I'd encourage taking a look at the WP:PARAPHRASE policy, and I think the section Wikipedia:PARAPHRASE#How to write acceptable content might have some especially helpful hints at including this material in the content. Balancing the need for quality sources and to remain "in Wikipedia's voice" when writing these articles can be tricky, as I've encountered even in my own articles. Please let me know if I can be of assistance. Nmillerche (talk) 01:51, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sources modified on Our Lady of Warraq[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just attempted to maintain the sources on Our Lady of Warraq. I managed to add archive links to 1 source, out of the total 1 I modified, whiling tagging 0 as dead.

Please take a moment to review my changes to verify that the change is accurate and correct. If it isn't, please modify it accordingly and if necessary tag that source with {{cbignore}} to keep Cyberbot from modifying it any further. Alternatively, you can also add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page's sources altogether. Let other users know that you have reviewed my edit by leaving a comment on this post.

Below, I have included a list of modifications I've made:
