Merger[edit]

I am thinking that this should be merged to the existing article on Outlook, rather than have its own article. I doubt it has the notability required for its own article. --DanielRigal (talk) 00:23, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Support with Microsoft Office Mobile as it only includes a mobile application, originally the Microsoft Office Mobile article specifically listed "core applications" (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft OneNote) but recently someone changed the name to "applications and features", though Microsoft mobile services already covers Office Lens, Office Remote, and Office 365 Video which are Microsoft Office-based applications for mobile devices, so I support it either way, anything is better than letting this subject go to waste. --Cookie Nguyen (talk) 12:59, 23 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose I really don't understand any of you. There is no reliable source relating this to Office Mobile, similar to how the MWSS template was deleted because it was said to be a duplicate of the Windows Live one, when it clearly was not. Finally Outlook Groups is part of O365 not to be downloaded with Office Mobile apps for WP. In addition, Outlook is no longer just a Microsoft Office brand, but rather one that exists across Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Groups, and Tasks. I have provided evidence over at Talk:Outlook.com, now I need to see evidence that this belongs to Office or Office Mobile apps before I see anyone merging or deleting this article. Yeah, yeah. I am starting to think that every time you say "I have provided evidence" or "there is no reliable source", the exact opposite is true. Your template (MWSS) is now deleted and your proposals did not achieve acceptance from anyone. The sooner you learn to stop beating the dead horse and move on, the better for you and all of us. Kindly provide a news article that states that Outlook is no longer a part of the Office brand to me this claim is completely new nor can I find any references to this claim in Bing News.

@WikIan I have re-read your argument and you're wrong on several points first of all Office Mobile includes any Office service and application on a mobile device and spans not just Windows Phone, it also has applications for Google Android, iO.S., Windows Mobile, and Symbian. Second of all Office 365 is required for many Office Mobile services, especially those on Windows 10, iO.S. and Google Android and last of all though Outlook Tasks, Calendar, and Mail exists I have never come across Outlook People.

@Codename Lisa Don't be too harsh on WikIan, remember that we should be civil and language like that might hurt their feelings, there are plenty of civilised ways to explain to someone that they're wrong but then again I have experience with the opposite here on Wikipedia so I probably won't go to deep into that conversation (again). (Before I lost my password I used to be called NamLong/Southern-Dragon)

@Everyone ¿Wouldn't it be better to merge it with Microsoft Office shared tools? but I really don't know if it qualifies as the introduction reads "Microsoft Office shared tools are software components that are (or were) included in all Microsoft Office products."

No. It does not qualify. This one does not come with any copy of Microsoft Office or the Office desktop apps like Visio or Project. In fact, Groups is integrated into Microsoft Outlook. The article is specifically talking about the Groups app for WP. It does not currently exist on iOS or Android. There is an Outlook Groups feature in Outlook 2016 (desktop app). In that case a new section should be made on Microsoft Outlook, with a main article template linking here. Outlook is a brand that is part of Office, but as seen in Outlook Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and now Groups, it now goes beyond Office. However, it is still very much a part of Office.

The worst fact of the matter is the Microsoft Office article which has a single line of mention of Office 365 and is centered around the desktop apps. This should change as O365 is the MAIN component of Office, not the Windows desktop apps nor the Mac desktop apps. In fact, that article should be moved to a new page if you want to follow branding. Perhaps a Microsoft Office desktop page? Actually, all I did was to add mentions of Outlook Mobile and Outlook Groups there, so technically, this is not a merge. In fact, if this discussion end with consensus against the merger, a {{Main}} goes into Microsoft Office Mobile in "Outlook Group" section, linking it back here. @Codename Lisa: I'm personally neutral regarding the merger, I can see this page evolving as the service will expand in the future, there's already plenty of coverage but most are reporting the same thing, so placing them in the text is not advised, and Outlook Groups might get more features in the future and other similar services already have standalone pages. I think we need to wait until other people will give their opinion on this article, it's already a cross-platform application which tends to get more coverage from a variety of outlets.
