I have wikified this, but I think that it probably should merged with Television studio and replaced with a redirect. Thruston 18:10, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think EFP should be merged with this, though I'm not so sure which one should be merged into which.

Not sure about the above, in the UK EFP (and ENG) is a much newer practice and usually refers to productions with fewer cameras than OBs. Certainly the two entries are linked but I feel that they shouldn't be merged. See also Remote in tv terms. Zir 09:34, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OBs are often multi-camera productions, e.g. for live coverage of a football game. EFP is typically high-quality single-camera production, e.g. for drama. ENG is ultra-rapid work for news. As such, the three types of production are done in different ways for different purposes by different people with different skills using different equipment. Can be merged with Electronic field production[edit]

I agree it can be merged with Electronic field production, but not with Television Studios. The term EFP is not commonly used as OB. So Electronic field production's content should be merged in to Outside broadcasting. —IncidentFlux (talk) 16:55, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

US/UK/international language[edit]

There is currently some confusing and ambiguous language in this article as a result of different terms used in different parts of the world. I personally would prefer that UK terms should be used, as the BBC were the frontrunners of the outside broadcasting industry. Thoughts?

Merge discussion[edit]

It looks like there is still more work to be done to differentiate Outside broadcasting and Production truck. I will put it on my todo list but if anyone else gets to it before I, that would be great. ~Kvng (talk) 15:41, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I (formerly Enbytv) have done some further differentiating - I think the next steps would be to have the current history in Outside broadcasting moved and rewritten slightly in Production truck, and have a more general history of outside broadcasting (with mentions of the first production trucks) on the that page.--Tvcameraop (talk) 11:15, 21 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have split the history section, with a brief overview of the early history of outside broadcasting left here, and an expanded history of the BBC's early outside broadcast vehicles moved to Production truck.
