Signs and symptoms[edit]

"Enzootic or newly infected country". Within the context provided, I'm understanding this to mean herds living in a country with a history of the disease exhibit less extreme symptoms because of inherited resistance to some aspects of the infection, versus animals exposed to it in counties where the disease has not been documented previously so the animals suffer more extreme symptoms(?) Please reword this clause, and the sentence surrounding it, in a way that is more clear for the average layperson. – Down time (talk) 15:12, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Change name of article?[edit]

I would suggest changing the title of this article from "Ovine rinderpest" to "Peste des petits ruminants". The name Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is the most used in scientific articles, so this is the most correct name and the name the disease is most recognized by. Ovine rinderpest is only mentioned rarely as a possible synonym. PPR is also a disease that affects both sheep, goats and wild ruminants, and the most severely affected and goats. For this reason Ovine rinderpest can be misleading. When searching for peste des petits ruminants on Google Scholar I get about 11.700 results, and when searching for ovine rinderpest I get 2.200 results, mainly regarding rinderpest (another closely related viral disease).
