Clarification[edit]

A pünte is not a cable ferry, although most surviving ones are used in a similar configuration. Nor is it a punt, which is usually propelled by a pole, not a horse or rope. Historically they were either drawn along rivers by horses or the sail when that sufficed, or across rivers by horse, sail or rope and crank. --Bermicourt (talk) 20:27, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
