First paragraph of Performance section needs rework[edit]

This is currently a huge monolithic paragraph. Needs to be broken up for readability. Also has areas of clumsy wording ripe for rework. n2xjk (talk) 14:31, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I see the paragraph was broken up a bit, but there are other issues. As currently written it seems to imply the Westinghouse rotary controller was developed first and was superior to the GE. The 'superior' part might be debatable, but GE and Westinghouse developed their rotary controllers independently to the ERPCC specifications and delivered working examples essentially simultaneously and in the end roughly equally split PCC deliveries. Brooklyn 1001, a GE car, and Pittsburgh 100, a Westinghouse car, were cars No. 1 and 2 off the St Louis production line.
Also the first paragraph still seems clumsy to me about moving a wire in an electric field. Doesn't seem to me to fit here. I'd reference other appropriate articles about electric theory and practice, or perhaps move mentions of how a motor operates to articles relating to the earliest development of electric transit (to wit, the work of Van DePole, Sprague, and Daft), because that much isn't new to the PCC. n2xjk (talk) 14:51, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
