Removed historical annual data because its not helpful. A history section is needed[edit]

I removed the following because it is not helpful and Wikipedia is WP:NOTADIRECTORY. A history section is needed that talks both about the development of the index and its financial performance over the years. In such a section the performance can be discussed in a better, fuller way. Plus the current components are more helpful and having the annual returns chart "hid" the current components, necessitating people scrolling further.

Annual returns The following table shows the closing value of the PSE Composite Index at the end of each calendar year since 1980.[1]

Dow Jones Industrial Average, FTSE 100 Index, Nikkei 225 and probably every major stock index article has this exact same section. WP:OSE, but it is what it is. Howard the Duck (talk) 19:58, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good point. I hadn't looked at other articles. I asked the folks at Wikipedia:WikiProject Finance & Investment what they thought. Maybe there guidance about what should be in indices articles. Iloilo Wanderer (talk) 12:57, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that the Wikiproject is inactive. We'd have to figure this out for ourselves. Howard the Duck (talk) 06:06, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Creation of new category[edit]

Creation If we look at Category:Companies by stock market index, most of the world's major indices are listed, except for the PSE. Can somebody add this? 92.71.60.62 (talk) 09:43, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You mean something like {{PSEi}} but in a category? Howard the Duck (talk) 18:51, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I created Category:Companies in the PSE Composite Index. There should be 30 links, but there are only 29. We don't have an article on Wilcon Depot, and Emperador, Inc. is a redirect to Alliance Global. Howard the Duck (talk) 20:04, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, thankyou. While we're on the subject, there are a couple of other major indices without a category, namely DAX, Nikkei 225, S&P/ASX 200, NIFTY 50, OMX Stockholm 30, KOSPI. Any chance you could create those too? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.71.60.61 (talk) 08:32, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
