Paun[edit]

I am changing the guy's name to "Paun" because Google test returns 69,900 hits for "Gheorghe Paun" and 6 for the previous version Watcher 01:32, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can assure you its the other way. http://psystems.disco.unimib.it/download/cell1j.zip
I believe that it's actually spelled using an 'a' with a slightly different accent to the one used before, v-shaped (not sure of the name), like this: ă. This is consistent with the Romanian Wikipedia page,[1] google (returning just over 60,000 hits) and the text I have in papers written by him. --Cheesewire (talk) 14:31, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ambiguity[edit]

There is some ambiguity in Step 1 of Rule Application. Could someone please clarify what rule(s) "the rule" refers to in "Assign symbols from a membrane’s content to the rule’s inputs". I imagine it could refer to all rules in a membrane simultaneously, all rules in a membrane sequentially, or a randomly selected rule. I am currently reading the Wiki rules, but I plan to tag the phrase appropriately once I know how. --Dan Ross (talk) 14:46, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is almost clarified in the paragraph "Maximally parallel application" by stating that "...the rule a → aa has the effect of doubling the number of "a" symbols in its containing membrane each step, because the rule is applied to every occurrence of an "a" symbol present." Are all "a" symbols doubled in one computation step or does it happen one symbol at a time, over N steps for N relevant symbols? I think I will add another "vague" tag. OK, after rereading it with a coffee I realized that it is not ambiguous; all symbols are used in each step, if possible. In fact, I cannot think of any good way to make it more clear than it already is. I am removing my "vague" tags. Dan Ross (talk) 15:14, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
